Direct instruction based on student needs

The White Oak summer program runs from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM, Monday through Thursday for 5 weeks. The program typically begins during the first week of July and ends at the beginning of August. Each student receives direct instruction in literacy skills, using a structured literacy  approach, in a 1:1 setting.  In addition, each student receives instruction in a small group language-based classroom, for two subject areas (Math and Language Arts). Students also receive a daily Physical Education period. The program integrates a common theme each year into the summer classes. Each week there are full group team building and enrichment activities related to the program’s theme in order to provide additional opportunities for social development.
